Where the kitchen scraps go ...

I have to post pictures of my compost, if only for the pleasure of bragging about how beautiful it all is.

I piled it up in the wheelbarrow and went around the house putting it around my plants and shrubs (do I put it around trees too?) and for the first time, I felt like a real gardener.

I never thought I'd say this, but that compost is down right purty . Black gold and the best thing for the garden. You done good.

Beautiful stuff, Rosemarie - but you were already a real gardener ~ now you're a real gardener with some great compost for her favorite plants.

That composter looks suspiciously like Artoo Detoo, but that's some magic stuff he's turning out! Good for you. And I'd say anyone taking horticulture classes is way ahead of a lot of "real gardeners."

I'm scared of my first composting experience creating something unsavoury enough to cause complaints from neighbours down my street and that will need to be quarantined.

Your joy in composting is rather catching : ) .

Thanks so much for the positive response on the compost. I am very proud even though I took a laissez-faire approach to this (not watering or turning it as often as I should).

I never saw the like-ness between it and R2D2. We're huge Star Wars fans so this is great!

Blue-Blue, don't be afraid about it stinking. We put table scraps in this thing and there is no odor until you lift the lid. I've had no complaints from anyone!
