Name this Plant!

This was a large unruly bush when we moved in. I hacked it down and kept it from growing until last summer when I gave up.

But I have no idea what it is? Does anyone know? (click on photos to make them larger)

I think I have this same bush. FAST grower, and kind of sticky leaves. Sticky like syrup, not prickly. I've trimmed it down to the ground and its back in no time. It has no shape to it. Doesnt bloom. Same thing?

I don't know either. I hope you figure it out.

I think I have the same one! I just went through my tree/shrub key and couldn't figure it out. It looks a bit like a viburnum. Those opposite leaves aren't found in many groups.

It is a native plant, the arrow wood viburnum. It is used in hedges and is best planted by the edge of the yard. It blooms in the spring.

Leave it to Carol to school us all!
